Public Opinion Polls
2/3 of Toronto Opposes OPTO
“The findings couldn’t be clearer; Toronto residents are surprised and shocked that TTC management would make a decision with such profound safety implications for riders without consulting the public first.
Moreover, they are consistent in their opposition to the decision to eliminate the subway guards, a position they see as critical to the safe and smooth operation of the subway”

One Person Train Operation (OPTO): Explanation and public reaction
The City of Toronto is divided into 25 geographic wards, each represented by a Councillor elected for a four-year term.
In February 2021, a city-wide poll by Corbett Communications surveyed 2,715 randomly-selected Toronto residents aged 18 or older. An approximately equal number of residents were polled in each ward.
Below are the results from each ward to the same two key questions:
1. Do you approve or disapprove of the TTC plan to eliminate Subway Guards?
2. How important is public consultation before TTC implements the plan?
